HealthTechCongress – 13-15 October 2025
The HealthTech Synergy Hub Congress conference, organised by Wrocław University of Science and Technology, was born out of the need and vision to intensify collaboration at the interface of two key fields: engineering and medicine. At the heart of this initiative is the university’s long-standing commitment to research and technology projects supporting medicine.
From the very beginning, Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (until 1952, it operated together with the University of Wroclaw as a single institution under the name of University and Technical University of Wroclaw) has placed great emphasis not only on education and research in technical and scientific disciplines, but also on basic and social sciences. This specificity has been maintained to this day.
As one of the best and most innovative technical universities in the country, we offer 76 fields of study, 18 of which are taught in English. The fields of study and research are not only related to technical sciences, but also to basic, social and medical sciences. We believe that the role of a modern university is to apply the results of scientific research to the economy and to provide the highest quality education for specialists in fields that are key to the development and functioning of society. One such field is medicine. In 2023, the Wrocław University of Science and Technology (Wroclaw.Tech) opened a new Faculty of Medicine with a medical specialisation.
Without a doubt, the Polytechnic has been open to cooperation with the medical community for many years. In the last few years alone, we have carried out a large number of medical-related projects in collaboration with various medical centres. We also train specialists in fields that support the work of doctors or develop knowledge in the field of medicine, such as biomedical engineers and biotechnologists. It is therefore natural to establish the Faculty of Medicine as a new area of education and research.
In the last five years, Wroclaw.Tech has received funding for the implementation of more than one hundred projects related to medicine. The university’s staff are therefore experienced in managing and implementing interdisciplinary medical grants and teaching courses related to medical issues, such as biomedical engineering, biostatistics, medical informatics, microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, basic genetics or drug design.
The new Faculty of Medicine completes the teaching and research offer and thus creates the conditions for the strategic development of the university – the creation of a multidisciplinary technological university.
The development of medical technology is so dynamic today that doctors in particular need to be aware of the latest advances in robotics, imaging, artificial intelligence and many other fields that can be effectively used in modern and innovative methods of diagnosis and treatment. One of the key trends in European healthcare, 3P Medicine, which consists of prediction, prevention and personalisation of diagnosis and treatment, is largely based on the use of new technologies. 3P Medicine is the basis for reducing disease and improving quality of life.
At the Faculty of Medicine, we have set up one of the most advanced medical simulation centres in the country, where students can learn subjects such as medical first aid, anaesthesia and intensive care, surgery or gynaecology and obstetrics in low- and high-fidelity rooms.
Wroclaw University of Technology works closely with a number of highly specialised hospitals and medical research centres, which form the University’s clinical and teaching base.
The HealthTech Synergy Hub (HTSH) for advanced technologies for medicine was established at the University in 2023, which initiates cooperation between scientists, doctors, entrepreneurs and business environment units.
One example is the Medical Problems Exchange organised by Wroclaw University of Science and Technology, which has initiated regular meetings of Polish medical and engineering specialists to seek technological solutions to current health challenges. The five editions of the event to date have attracted almost 400 participants. Topics have included artificial intelligence in medicine, neuroscience, modern cardiology, oncology, biomedical and biochemical engineering, and robotics and automation in medicine.
The University’s activities to date, including its involvement in the development of artificial intelligence in cancer diagnosis, 3D printing of implants and advanced methods of monitoring brain function, have demonstrated the need for an international conference that brings together experts from around the world.
The HealthTech Synergy Hub Congress is a response to the growing importance of technology in medicine, especially in the context of 3P medicine – personalised, preventive and predictive medicine. This conference creates a collaborative space for scientists, physicians and medical professionals to share knowledge, experiences and innovations that can improve the lives of patients.
